Park Ridge Structure Plan

21

The goal is to develop Park Ridge as an integrated, sustainable urban community and employment area. A total of 650 ha has been allocated for enterprise development including industry, commercial/office, retail, etc.

LOED has actively participated over recent time in a process to develop a land use plan for the Park Ridge area. The process has been consultative with the public engaged at every stage. The Minister approved the release of the Option for public comment. The Council released the Option to the public on 16 December 2009 with an extended period for feedback due by close of business 26 February 2010.

The aim of the Structure Plan is to develop an integrated, well planned, well serviced urban community and employment area that is defined by an extensive environment, parks and waterways network. The Park Ridge area is some 2,450ha in size. It will be the future home for an estimated 30,000 new residents and provide significant jobs to fulfil Logan City's employment needs as well as supporting the allied goal of high levels of local employment self-containment.

The Logan Planning Scheme currently shows the majority of Park Ridge as an "investigation area ". Development in Park Ridge is limited until such time as the proposed amendments have been formally incorporated into the Planning Scheme. Council will assess the submissions received by 26 February 2010 and make any necessary changes to the Scheme amendments with a final proposal to be signed off by the State Government.
