Enforceable Minimum Employment Terms
Did you know that from 1 January 2010 there are several important changes to the Federal workplace laws that will affect all employers and staff in the national workplace relations system?
These changes include the introduction of National Employment Standards (NES) and the commencement of modern awards. The Fair Work Act provides a safety net of enforceable minimum employment terms and conditions through these new standards - all employers covered by the national workplace relations system have an obligation to give each new employee a Fair Work Information Statement before, or as soon as possible after, the employee starts employment.
Fair Work Education and Information Program workshops, seminars, webinars and other online resources, including an information portal is available specifically for small business. We recommend employers review resources available to them through the Fair Work Online resource.
The Workforce Development program offers a single point of contact with experienced staff who work in a way that suits your business best. If you would like to know more about how we can help your business please contact Marita Tomlinson on phone (07) 3412 4884 or by email to arrange a visit to your business area.
