Export Hub for Logan City launches
The FLEx Logan City Export Hub was launched on Thursday 21 August at the Logan Metro Indoor Centre with forty-five local businesses in attendance.
The purpose of the program is to identify current and potential Logan City exporters and work with these companies to make it much clearer for them to understand what services are available, where they can source assistance from to achieve export outcomes and provide a network base for exporters to share opportunities in a team sense rather than "doing it on their own". It is estimated that there are over 500 companies in Logan City that are currently exporting or have registered interest with Austrade or Trade and Investment Queensland regarding exporting. It is also estimated that for every $100,000 in export related gross revenue, one job is created.
The export hub's main functions will be:
- Delivery of the Australian Institute of Export's (AIEx) FLEx Logan City export training sessions held monthly (first Thursday of each month at 7.30am) at Springwood Towers Hotel commencing in September 2010;
- Promoting export as a real option to Logan businesses to help grow their businesses;
- Help identify companies that may have not considered exporting but a demand has been identified for their product or service;
- Access to a full suite of export related services from the Export Hub's partners and AIEx affiliation member benefits;
- A centre for the distribution of services of trade organisations and professional service providers involved in export;
- Network and round table discussions on various markets and industries of relevance to each exporter/member;
- Collaboration of overseas opportunities within the network (small synergistic discussions)
- Generate and disseminate export leads through the export hub - leads from Austrade, Trade and Investment Queensland, other international trade organisations, export related leads from the Logan Office of Economic Development and leads from Logan City exporters
Partners in this program include Logan City exporting businesses, Austrade, Trade and Investment Queensland, Australian Institue of Export (AIEx), Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) and the Logan Office of Economic Development (LOED).
