101FM Live & Local Expo
The second annual 101FM Live & Local Expo held in March at the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre was again a huge success.
101FM together with corporate sponsors and partners hosted the second annual Live & Local Expo at the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre from 17-19 March. Corporate sponsors of the Expo included the Logan Office of Economic Development, Logan Chamber of Commerce, Beenleigh-Yatala Chamber of Commerce, Logan Country Chamber, Telstra, Local Smile and Quest News.
The Expo ran over two and a half days with Thursday evening involving a Business to Business speed networking event in which about 100 people participated. The B2B speed networking event was sponsored by Local Smile. Friday was dominated by business related forums and networking between presenters, attendees and expo booth holders. The Expo officially opened at noon on Friday with 120 corporate booths.
Quest sponsored the combined Logan Chambers of Commerce Breakfast on the Friday morning which was well attended by nearly 200 people. This was followed by "How to do Business in Logan" business forums chaired by David van den Brule, Manager of the Logan Office of Economic Development.
These informative business seminars featured guest presenters including Peter Watson of Local Smile followed by Glenis Gassmann from 10X, Gavin Hanscomb from the purchasing branch of Logan Council and culminating with the ever inspiring John Anderson, the founder of the world famous Contiki brand.
Glenis Gassmann from 10X presented on business mentoring and young entrepreneur workshops; Peter Watson introduced the Local Smile platform; Gavin Hanscomb from Logan Council presented on doing business with Council; and John Anderson of Contiki captivated the audience with tales of his entrepreneurial journey and the evolution of Contiki from its humble beginnings to the global corporation it is today.
Telstra was the corporate sponsor of Friday night's popular corporate cocktail function and concluded with a spectacular fire works display.
The Expo was open to the public on Saturday which despite the inclement weather was again well supported. A local resident of Browns Plains won the draw for the KIA Rio from Highway Auto in Springwood.
Planning and organisation of the 2012 Live & Local Expo has already begun.
